As there is only a short distance from La Paz to Copacabana, I wanted to try a " collectivo" (a small minubus), instead of a big coach.
Vehicles are ferried to the other side on wooden platforms.
After a short drive we reach Copacabana which is the main Bolivian town on the shore of Lake Titicaca. The town is a tourism destination in Bolivia. It is also known for its trout and quaint atmosphere. Boats leave for Isla del Sol, the sacred Inca island, from Copacabana.
Built between Mount Calvario and Mount NiƱo Calvario, the town has approximately 6,000 inhabitants. The town has a large 16th-century shrine, the Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana, dedicated to Our Lady of Copacabana, the patron saint of Bolivia. Copacabana's religious celebrations, cultural heritage and traditional festivals are well known throughout Bolivia.
