In Argentina: driving to and visiting Ushuaia

27 November 2023 - YES, I made it!!!

Ushuaia is the capital of Tierra del Fuego. With a location below the 54th parallel south latitude, Ushuaia claims the title of world's southernmost city.

It was founded on 12 October 1884 by Augusto Lasserre and is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel surrounded by the mountain range of the Martial Glacier, in the Bay of Ushuaia.

Ushuaia is located roughly 1,100 kilometres from the Antarctic Peninsula and is one of five internationally recognized Antarctic gateway cities

Reaching Ushuaia was a milestone for me:

A/ I had reached the "bottom" of South America, going forward, I would be driving North, all the way to Alaska at the "top" of North America.

B/ It's the beginning of "the end" of my trip Around the World. Once I will reach Alaska,  I will simply be driving across Canada to Halifax and ship my Land Roamer to Europe... The END of a trip started in 2018...

C/ It reminded me of reaching two other extreme geographical points of the world when I was driving my Land Rover "Kapp to Cape & Return"

1/ North Kapp in Norway on 13 June 1983

2/ Cape of Good Hope in South Africa on 10 July 1988
